The Default Roles

Each workspace keeps its own roles. Every workspace starts with six roles. Change any of them on the Roles page, except Owner.

RoleFor
Owner Runs the organization, its billing and its members. Owner never changes.
Admin Runs the organization and every team.
Head Coach Runs a team's schedule, roster, attendance and plans.
Assistant Coach Helps run a team's schedule, attendance and plans.
Team Manager Keeps a team's schedule, roster and signups.
Specialist Coach Joins a team for sessions to read the plan and write notes.
Parents and players are not staff. Family accounts follow their own rules. See Family accounts.

How a Part Applies

A member holds a role for the whole organization or on chosen teams.

PartsApply
Running the Organization, such as billing and members Only with a role held for the whole organization.
Shared Across Teams, such as the drill library With any role, on any team.
Each Team, such as the schedule On the teams the role is held on. A role for the whole organization reaches every team.

Admin of 9U Blue runs 9U Blue. That member sees nothing of 9U Red. That member never sees billing.

Players is the one shared part limited by team. Every role reads every player. A role on chosen teams edits and invites families only for the players on those teams.

A member with two roles on one team gets the higher level of each part.

Making a Role

Members and Roles at Edit makes and changes roles.

  1. Open Roles. Click New Role.
  2. Enter a name and what the role is for.
  3. Select a level for each part.
  4. Click Save.
Archive

Coaching a Team

Staff see a team when a role gives them the team.

Team staff
The team page adds coaches with a title such as Head Coach or Goalie Coach. The title sets the role on that team unless you select another.
A role on one team
Assign a role on the Members page and select a team in Where. Admin of 9U Blue runs 9U Blue alone.
Specialists
A goalie or skating coach who joins some sessions holds Specialist Coach. The role reads the plan and writes notes.
Favorites
The menu lists your favorite teams. Click Favorite on a team's page or the star on the Teams page.
Search, Home and calendar
Show only the teams you can see.

What No Role Changes

Some rules protect players. No role changes them.

Private notes
Only the author reads a private note. Owners cannot read it either.
Photos
A player's photo shows only for a team you can see, or to a role that reaches every team.
Family accounts
A parent or player sees only what a coach shared.
Public pages
Show nothing about a child beyond first names and numbers.

Seats

A club pays for each coach seat. A solo workspace is one seat. See Billing for details.
